"This is the day that the Lord has made!"- Don't make a mountain of mole hills!

Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is always a day away, but now, this day, is forever. "This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad!" He only asks us to live for today. He asks us to take one day at a time. He made creation one day at a time. He shows us that we need to do what we can with an active effort for today. Active effort does not mean that we need to give everything, but it does require something. If we do not try, we fail ourselves before we begin.

With my head in my hands, I prayed as I wept. I was just so tired emotionally and physically. I saw everything I needed to do and was overwhelmed. I was defeated before I even started. As I hung my head in defeat before a statue of The Immaculate Heart of Mary, repeatedly the phrase "One day at a time" came to me. I dried my eyes and went back to the seemingly endless chores and mountain of dishes in my kitchen. As I worked, I listened to the television in the next room. A new program was just starting. I heard a man talking about the Scripture reading above. It was Fr. Leo Clifford- One Day at a Time. I heard him suggest how unrealistic it would be to view things to do over a lifetime as if they were to be done at one time. Picture the hundreds or thousands of sick a doctor has to attend to over a lifetime. Think of every dish you have to wash over a lifetime, how impossible the task may seem. At that moment, I couldn't believe how God uses little things to encourage me. At this point I burst out laughing as tears started rolling down my cheeks. How great God is and how awesome that He gives us only one day at a time! I have always said that God never gives us more than we can handle, and with Him, all things are possible. I need to only worry about the parts I can handle through active effort, and I will allow God take care of the impossible. When my sight is on Him, I look up and live in today. This is the day He has given me. I wil takes it one day at a time.
